Race for the Cure 2025: La Lucente SpA dedicates a space to genetic predisposition

In the Health Village a stand for free access to Oncological Genetic Counseling

With a simple saliva swab it is possible to know if you are genetically predisposed to tumor diseases. The new frontiers of prevention pass through the initiative launched by La Lucente SpA which, on the occasion of the Bari stage of the Race For The Cure, the race to fight breast cancer scheduled for Sunday 18 May, will set up a stand dedicated to Oncological Genetic Counseling in Piazza Libertà (inside the Villaggio della Salute).

The space will be open on Friday, May 16 from 15:20 p.m. to 17:9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 20 from XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. and will allow women and men with a personal or family history of cancer - not just breast cancer - to access the service to evaluate, through specific clinical criteria, the possible indication to perform a genetic test. Special attention will also be offered to all those people with family history of other tumors, such as pancreatic, prostate or intestinal cancer. The salivary swab will be performed inside the stand by the team of the Institute of Genetics of the Policlinico di Bari, directed by Prof. Nicoletta Resta.

Through saliva sampling, it will be possible to understand if one is genetically associated with hereditary tumor predisposition syndromes, through the analysis of over 100 genes known to be linked to hereditary diseases. The CGO (Oncological Genetic Counseling), through the team of specialists involved thanks to the support of La Lucente Spa, thus allows us to offer a valuable tool for targeted, conscious and informed prevention, based on the clinical and family history of each individual subject.

"Lucente, which has almost 70% female staff, is dyed pink for the Race for the Cure, against the fight against tumors, which still today represent one of the most insidious challenges for women's health. We want to give our small contribution to build a culture of health together, with a concrete gesture that goes in the direction of increasingly targeted and early prevention." –  Said the CEO of La Lucente SpA, Angelo Volpe.

“This is a virtuous model of corporate policy that supports and promotes social well-being. It does so by donating a space and health services to the community. A demonstration of sensitivity and awareness of the results that can be achieved if we all pursue the same goal together, the fight against cancer” – commented Linda Catucci, President of the Puglia Susan G. Komen Italia Committee.
