Lucente SpA: short-term emissions reduction targets validated by SBTi (Science Based Target Initiative)

Never before has our planet felt such a strong urgency to act against climate change. The latest scientific research from theIPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), defined byONU as a true “red code for humanity”, they confirm that limiting the global temperature increase to 1,5 °C is still possible, but requires a radical and immediate transformation of business models.

In this challenging global scenario, La Lucente is pleased to announce that its commitment and consequent target of reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to the base year 2022, as well as measuring and reducing its Scope 3 emissions, has been approved by SBTi as being based on scientific evidence.

What is the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)?

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an organization that, in promoting climate action, enables companies and financial institutions around the world to take credible, science-based actions to mitigate global warming by providing them with free standards, tools and guidelines for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The SBTi works together with high-profile partners, including the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

The approval of the objectives by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) today represents one of the main international references for the definition of scientifically based corporate climate targets.
