Prevention: What can every citizen do?
The fight against West Nile virus is a shared responsibility. Here are a few the practical advice that every citizen can adopt:
- Eliminate stagnant water (saucers, buckets, gutters or open cisterns)
- Clean drains and gutters regularly
- Use mosquito nets and repellents to protect internal environments
- Empty animal waterers or outdoor containers frequently
- Report risk areas or suspected outbreaks to the Municipality or your local health authority
